Exotic and precious
High-quality 3-ply yarn, highly prized for its unique properties. Very soft, light as a cloud, delicate, and rather rare, baby llama fiber is often compared to cashmere for its luxurious texture. The term "baby llama" refers to the fineness of the fiber, not necessarily the animal's age. It is actually a designation for the first shearing, or for the finest, softest fibers in an adult llama's fleece. The production of this yarn is based on a fair trade and solidarity approach, aiming to promote Bolivian craftsmanship and establish lasting and equitable relationships with producers.
Similar to alpaca wool, it is nevertheless slightly thicker than its cousin and much silkier than sheep's wool. Containing no lanolin, it is considered hypoallergenic, making it an ideal choice for clothing that comes into contact with the skin. It is often recommended for sensitive skin, including that of babies. It doesn't need to be washed frequently, as llama fiber is naturally odor-resistant. A simple airing is usually sufficient.
Although very fine, baby llama yarns are surprisingly strong, perfectly suited to projects requiring durability. It's the ideal yarn for the whole family. It's perfect for a wide variety of lightweight yet cozy knitting and crochet projects, perfect for all seasons: shawls and stoles, delicate mittens and other accessories, featherweight sweaters and cardigans, baby and children's clothing, blankets for young and old, home decor, and more.
Virazon offers a unique combination of softness, lightness, warmth, and durability. This yarn is an excellent choice for refined and comfortable projects, delicate pieces with fine details, and beautiful stitch definition, whether made with simple or more textured stitches.

What is Fingering Yarn?
A classic in the knitting world for delicate creations. Perfect for a wide range of projects, fingering yarn is suitable for light and fine sweaters, cardigans, and shawls, as well as for baby clothes and accessories. Neither too thick nor too warm, it has a perfect texture. Skeins weigh between 350 and 400m per 100g. The yarn is fine and can be knitted with 2.25mm to 3.25mm needles or 2.25mm to 3.5mm crochet hooks. This is the ideal yarn weight for making stockings and mittens. If you are looking for a "sock yarn", choose one that contains ramie (a nylon substitute) to increase its strength, especially at the heels and toes.

Maintenance tips

To care for naturally dyed fibers:
– Wash and rinse your item carefully by hand, separately, in water at 30°C maximum.
– Use an organic vegetable soap or a mild natural detergent, neutral pH. A few drops of organic baby shampoo without soap will also take care of the wool and the color.
The use of soap or detergent with a pH that is too high, vinegar, baking soda, etc. is to be avoided, as this would permanently affect the color.
– Do not wring. Dry flat (to avoid deforming your work) away from direct sunlight.

We recommend using Eucalan detergent available in our shop, haberdashery section.

Informations

Bath
We dye small quantities of yarn at a time. All skeins sold under the same reference come from the same batch. As this is an artisanal work, there may however be slight variations in shades between these skeins.
Each batch is unique, it is impossible to obtain exactly the same shade from one batch to another. Remember to alternate the skeins in your projects and make sure to order enough yarn for your project.

Don't worry
Despite numerous rinses and careful washing in the workshop, some colors (especially the most intense ones) may still slightly stain your hands when making your work or color the water when you care for it. This is simply excess dye, the final result will not be affected. There may also sometimes be a little plant powder stuck to the fibers that will come off on its own.

Colors, photographs and screens
Particular care is taken in the production of photographs to be as close as possible to real colors. But natural colors have rich and subtle tones that computer screens (computers, tablets, smartphones) cannot reproduce. The perception of colors can therefore vary depending on the screen, sometimes creating a slight discrepancy with the real color of the object.
