Blurred and Stormy
A 2-ply carded yarn prized for its hardy properties and beautiful texture. It is spun from the Norsk Pelssau (Norwegian Fur Sheep), a breed distinct from the Norwegian White Sheep. It is a cross between the Swedish Gotland sheep and the historic Norwegian Spælsau breed, which descends from a very old breed (Old Norwegian Gammel Norsk Spælsau) that accompanied the Vikings on their voyages. These short-tailed sheep, common throughout Northern Europe at that time, are the origin of other, more recent breeds such as Icelandic and Faroese sheep, and to some extent Shetland sheep and certain Scottish breeds. Its gray, curly wool contains light and dark fibers, which gives the yarn a particular depth, a marbled appearance that is further enhanced by dyeing. It is often compared to Icelandic Lopi but is considered softer. Renowned for being fine, airy, and silky, it has a slight sheen, giving the gray a silvery hue. After washing, the yarn develops a lovely halo, highlighting its downy appearance. Breathable and durable, this wool is versatile and ideal for sweaters and cardigans, hats and mittens, as well as light and warm throws and cushions. Its mottled appearance gives the colors a beautiful vibrancy, superb on jacquard patterns and textured knits. Turnagain is an authentic, characterful yarn, ideal for warm, sustainable projects with subtle touches. It is part of an ethical and local approach. Made 100% from wool from Norwegian sheep naturally adapted to the Nordic climate, which guarantees full traceability and supports local livestock farming, it is therefore a sustainable and resilient resource. The entire transformation process, from the sheep grazing in the pastures to the spinning process, is carried out locally in Norway. After a short trip to Normandy and a dip in our pots, this unique yarn with its rich, deep colors is just waiting for your needles and crochet hooks!

What is a Worsted / Aran yarn?
Worsted yarn is twice as thick as a DK and therefore four times as thick as a Fingering yarn. This medium-thick, all-purpose yarn can be knitted with 4.5mm to 5.5mm needles or 5.5mm to 6.5mm hooks. It can be used for mid-season clothing and accessories as well as for cushions and other decorative items. Ideal for projects where you need a medium-thick yarn, in a style that remains delicate. It is useful for large winter items: outerwear, thick cardigans and sweaters, not to mention warm mittens and hats. It can be used alone or doubled up for a larger project. A skein contains approximately 180 to 200m per 100g.
Aran wool is not a different category but another name for Worsted yarn. It is perfect for "Aran" sweaters, those Irish sweaters dotted with cables.

Maintenance tips

To care for naturally dyed fibers:
– Wash and rinse your item carefully by hand, separately, in water at 30°C maximum.
– Use an organic vegetable soap or a mild natural detergent, neutral pH. A few drops of organic baby shampoo without soap will also take care of the wool and the color.
The use of soap or detergent with a pH that is too high, vinegar, baking soda, etc. is to be avoided, as this would permanently affect the color.
– Do not wring. Dry flat (to avoid deforming your work) away from direct sunlight.

We recommend using Eucalan detergent available in our shop, haberdashery section.

Informations

Bath
We dye small quantities of yarn at a time. All skeins sold under the same reference come from the same batch. As this is an artisanal work, there may however be slight variations in shades between these skeins.
Each batch is unique, it is impossible to obtain exactly the same shade from one batch to another. Remember to alternate the skeins in your projects and make sure to order enough yarn for your project.

Don't worry
Despite numerous rinses and careful washing in the workshop, some colors (especially the most intense ones) may still slightly stain your hands when making your work or color the water when you care for it. This is simply excess dye, the final result will not be affected. There may also sometimes be a little plant powder stuck to the fibers that will come off on its own.

Colors, photographs and screens
Particular care is taken in the production of photographs to be as close as possible to real colors. But natural colors have rich and subtle tones that computer screens (computers, tablets, smartphones) cannot reproduce. The perception of colors can therefore vary depending on the screen, sometimes creating a slight discrepancy with the real color of the object.
