What is a DK / Light Worsted yarn?
Twice as thick as a Fingering yarn, DK (Double Knit in English) yarn, also known as Light Worsted, is ideal for scarves, hats and medium-weight sweaters. Neither too fine nor too thick, it allows you to create rather light and comfortable pieces, to wear in all seasons. It is sometimes used to make thick and warm socks to wear indoors or more robust shawls for winter. This weight of yarn is very versatile, which is why it is popular with knitwear fans. This fine-medium yarn, very similar to the Sport weight yarn, is knitted with needles from 3.75mm to 4.5mm or with hooks from 4.5mm to 5.5mm. To reproduce the same effect, you can also knit two Fingering yarns together. An interesting method to mix two colors or mix different fibers. The skeins are about 200 to 250m per 100g.
