Sparkling and Refined
A magnificent 3-ply yarn composed of two exceptional fibers. The finest Tibetan yak hair is spun with noble Chinese mulberry silk to create a warm yet lightweight and fine knitting yarn with exquisite softness, a subtle sheen, and an elegant drape.
The natural softness of the yak is enhanced by the silk's smooth, silky texture. It is a very pleasant yarn to wear next to the skin. The yak provides superior thermal insulation without adding weight, while the silk adds a feeling of lightness and finesse. Perfect for sophisticated, elegant, and comfortable garments that can be worn in all seasons: sleeveless tops, sweaters or cardigans, and luxurious baby clothes. The silk fibers give the yarn a delicate sheen, giving the pieces a refined appearance. They also promote a beautiful drape and fall, ideal for flowing garments or making delicate accessories such as shawls, scarves, hats, and headbands.
Khamsin can be knitted on needles of size 2–2.5 or 4–6 for light and airy stoles, spidery projects, or well-defined openwork or plain decorative stitches.
This yarn can be used as an alternative to mohair in certain projects, or knitted double for a denser, warmer garment. Yak fiber, often compared to cashmere for its fineness, is hypoallergenic and naturally lanolin-free. As a result, it is often well tolerated by people with sensitive skin or allergies.
This balanced blend offers the perfect synergy to meet the highest standards. It's a preferred choice for high-end textile creations.

What is Fingering Yarn?
Light fingering yarn is a yarn that falls somewhere between lace and fingering. Ideal for knitting and crocheting socks or baby accessories, with needles from 2mm to 3mm or with hooks from 2.25mm to 3.5mm, it is equally useful for shawls, stoles, or lightweight pieces to wear all year round. It is also popular as a sock yarn, and can also be used for gloves and mittens. Skeins generally weigh around 400 to 500m per 100g.

Maintenance tips

To care for naturally dyed fibers:
– Wash and rinse your item carefully by hand, separately, in water at 30°C maximum.
– Use an organic vegetable soap or a mild natural detergent, neutral pH. A few drops of organic baby shampoo without soap will also take care of the wool and the color.
The use of soap or detergent with a pH that is too high, vinegar, baking soda, etc. is to be avoided, as this would permanently affect the color.
– Do not wring. Dry flat (to avoid deforming your work) away from direct sunlight.

We recommend using Eucalan detergent available in our shop, haberdashery section.

Informations

Bath
We dye small quantities of yarn at a time. All skeins sold under the same reference come from the same batch. As this is an artisanal work, there may however be slight variations in shades between these skeins.
Each batch is unique, it is impossible to obtain exactly the same shade from one batch to another. Remember to alternate the skeins in your projects and make sure to order enough yarn for your project.

Don't worry
Despite numerous rinses and careful washing in the workshop, some colors (especially the most intense ones) may still slightly stain your hands when making your work or color the water when you care for it. This is simply excess dye, the final result will not be affected. There may also sometimes be a little plant powder stuck to the fibers that will come off on its own.

Colors, photographs and screens
Particular care is taken in the production of photographs to be as close as possible to real colors. But natural colors have rich and subtle tones that computer screens (computers, tablets, smartphones) cannot reproduce. The perception of colors can therefore vary depending on the screen, sometimes creating a slight discrepancy with the real color of the object.
