Elegant and subtle
Combed yarn composed of a blend of wool from two emblematic breeds of merino sheep: the Arles merino from a breed raised in the plains of Camargue and Crau, and the black Portuguese merino from the Alentejo farms in southern Portugal. Depending on the quantity of fibers used, naturally ecru white for one and dark brown for the other, this 4-ply yarn is available in 3 natural shades ranging from very light gray beige to medium gray brown. Once dyed in the workshop, these delicately mottled blends reveal deep, subtle, cloudy and milky tones. This versatile yarn, both soft and puffy, will delight knitting and crochet enthusiasts alike. With a slightly rustic appearance but nevertheless very pleasant to the touch, it is ideal for making accessories, layettes or warm and elegant fall and winter clothing.

What is a Fingering / Sock type yarn?
A great classic in the world of knitting for delicate style creations. Perfect for a large number of projects, fingering is suitable for light and fine sweaters, vests and shawls as well as for baby clothes and accessories. Neither too thick nor too warm, it has a perfect finish for textures. The skeins are between 350 and 400m for 100g. The yarn is fine and can be knitted with 2.25mm to 3.25mm needles or 2.25mm to 3.5mm hooks. This is the ideal yarn weight for making socks and mittens. If you are looking for a "sock yarn", choose one that contains ramie (replaces nylon) to reinforce its strength, especially at the heels and toes.

What is a Sport type wool?
A little thicker than Fingering and a bit lighter than DK, Sport weight yarn can be used to create all sorts of projects. As it is quite fine, it is ideal for making children's clothing: it is often found in baby knitting patterns. Often dedicated to sweaters, it is perfect for many projects to be worn in all seasons. It is appreciated for textured knits or cables. Its medium fine yarn can be knitted with needles from 3.25mm to 3.75mm or with hooks from 3.5mm to 4.5mm. A 100g skein makes approximately 250 to 350m.

Maintenance tips

To care for naturally dyed fibers:
– Wash and rinse your item carefully by hand, separately, in water at 30°C maximum.
– Use an organic vegetable soap or a mild natural detergent, neutral pH. A few drops of organic baby shampoo without soap will also take care of the wool and the color.
The use of soap or detergent with a pH that is too high, vinegar, baking soda, etc. is to be avoided, as this would permanently affect the color.
– Do not wring. Dry flat (to avoid deforming your work) away from direct sunlight.

Informations

Bat
We dye small quantities of yarn at a time. All skeins sold under the same reference come from the same batch. As this is an artisanal work, there may however be slight variations in shades between these skeins.
Each batch is unique, it is impossible to obtain exactly the same shade from one batch to another. Remember to alternate the skeins in your projects and make sure to order enough yarn for your project.

Don't worry
Despite numerous rinses and careful washing in the workshop, some colors (especially the most intense ones) may still slightly stain your hands when making your work or color the water when you care for it. This is simply excess dye, the final result will not be affected. There may also sometimes be a little plant powder stuck to the fibers that will come off on its own.

Colors, photographs and screens
Particular care is taken in the production of photographs to be as close as possible to real colors. But natural colors have rich and subtle tones that computer screens (computers, tablets, smartphones) cannot reproduce. The perception of colors can therefore vary depending on the screen, sometimes creating a slight discrepancy with the real color of the object.
